The Summer Wedding Guest Style Guide | Feat. The Black Tux

Wedding season is one of my favorite times of the year! I love seeing love! Sharing intimate moments such as these are what I live for, and Summer weddings are my absolute favorite. The only problem? What do I wear?! Now I've only been to traditional Cambodian-style weddings, but I always find it difficult to find an appropriate outfit for this occasion. Over the years, I find that people are attending these weddings in less traditional outfits, and more Americanized and modern looks. I was given the idea from my friends over at +The Black Tux for this post and they even have a wedding guest style guide that helped me, and could help you on your next event! Here is an idea of what I would wear if I were attending a summer wedding!

The first outfit was inspired by the style guide's "Semiformal, Dressy Casual" look. I opted to go with this beautiful, green flowy dress which I thought would be perfect for the summertime. I paired it with some strappy nude heels, which gives this look a little bit of edginess. I think that green pairs very well with gold, so I chose these gold stud earrings and this gorgeous floral, gold clutch. For my hair, I would go for big messy waves or even a loose braid. For my makeup, I would go with a more muted, natural look. I would do a light brown smokey eye, natural false lashes, and nude lips!
For my second outfit, I went with the "Black Tie/Black Tie Optional" look. Because this is more of a summer wedding look, I chose to go with a non-traditional cocktail dress, which is why I picked this floral, embroidered cocktail dress. I love embroidery and I find that it is coming back this season and more designers, such as Gucci, has really been using embroidery on their Spring/Summer lines. I think the floral print gives this look a nice twist on the usual "Little Black Dress" and makes it perfect for a Summer wedding! Because the dress is quite busy, I chose pointy, black patent heels. For a short girl like me, pointy-toed heels elongate your legs, and with the structure of the dress, it will be sure to make you look taller! I picked out this light, blush pink clutch with a bow on it because it ties into some of the flowers on the dress. I went with simple silver hoops because I feel that the dress is the main attraction of this outfit! For my hair, I would go with a more sleek look, doing either pin straight hair, a tight ponytail, or a loose bun. For my makeup, I can be a bit edgier and do a bold winged-liner and red lips.

Below is the style-guide that I used to inspire these looks for me. The Black Tux created it to help ensure that picking out an outfit will be one less worry for you. It describes the type of outfit needed for each different occasion and style of wedding. It is helpful to not only us ladies, but especially the gentlemen out there. Be sure to dress to impress my friends!
